TIME: 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM


LOCATION: 965 Albany Shaker Road, Latham, NY 12110

ACCESS TO BUILDING: Drive to the back of the building. Enter building through the door at the top of the ramp near a large green “Volunteers” sign.

DRESS: Closed toe shoes are mandatory. No slippers or flip-flops. Wear comfortable clothing, in layers for warmth, that you don’t mind getting dirty.

ACCESSORIES: Please leave all purses, handbags, and/or personal items in your vehicle.

WORK PLANNED: Work is not regulated by season. It could be housewares or food or personal hygiene items. Work is dictated by what is needed in the warehouse.

The Cornell Public Service Center developed a worldwide student-alumni service event that connects Cornellians, past and present to serve their local community through direct, hands-on service projects as they swap stories and network.

From California to New York, Cornell alumni and Cornell students will join together in nearly 30  cities to participate in a day of service. This year’s event is January 5, 2013. Please join us!!

The Regional Food Bank has been helping to feed the poor and hungry in our communities since 1982. It is the only organization of its kind in northeastern New York. The Food Bank collects large donations of food from the food industry and distributes it to charitable agencies serving hungry and disadvantaged people in 23 counties. From Plattsburgh to Newburgh, in urban, rural, and suburban communities, the Food Bank provides over 25 million pounds of food a year to 1,000 agencies.

The mission of the Regional Food Bank is to alleviate hunger and prevent food waste.  We work toward this mission by ensuring that all products available for donation reach the Food Bank and are distributed judiciously to our member agencies; by practicing responsible stewardship; and by actively participating in the community to increase awareness of hunger and poverty.

The Regional Food Bank is a non-profit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

The organization is led by Executive Director, Mark Quandt.  Gary Pollard, Cornell alumni (’82 and ’86) currently serves as Secretary of the Board and has been a member of the Board since 2009.
