In an event that honored Cornell’s tradition of public engagement and its founding as a land-grant university, a dinner banquet at Barton Hall, “Cornell Now: Celebrating Our Land-Grant Mission,” was held Oct. 26 as part of the 62nd annual meeting of the Cornell University Council and the Cornell University Board of Trustees.

Cuomo, legislators name Skorton to chair NYRA Reorganization Board | saratogian.com

Five months after Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced plans to take control of the New York Racing Association by naming a new board, he and the state’s top two legislative officials have announced their appointees to the reorganization board.

Cornell University President David Skorton will serve as chairman of the board, which includes people with backgrounds in the entertainment industry, racing, government and even celebrity chef Bobby Flay, a thoroughbred owner.
